- Peter Rich -
Peter Rich is principal architect at Peter Rich Architects an award winning practice based in Johannesburg dedicated to the creation of authentic contemporary African architecture. As a practicing architect and as Professor of Architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg for 30 years, he developed a contemporary architectural vocabulary that built on his research. This was, controversially, a fusion of modernist influences (notably Loos, RM Schindler and Guedes) and spatial models derived from a local tribal vernacular. Peter Rich soon began to engage with tribal communities, acting as an architect, a facilitator or an activist, believing that it was ordinary people who were most in need of his services.
In 2010, in recognition of his achievements, Peter was awarded the prestigious Honorary Fellowship of the American Institute of Architects and The South African Institute of Architects Gold Medal (the highest award for Architectural achievement in South Africa).

-LI Xiaodong -
Li xiaodong  is Associate Professor at the Tsingua University of Beijing and  principal architect at LIXIAODONG Atelier, a practice that believes in the responsibility of the architect to strive for the highest order of the human environments. Each project is unique and should add uplifting spiritual characteristic of the project to the built environment. For this the design reflecs an overall balance of aesthetic quality, tectonic order, precise detailing with the program.
Li xiaodong's design strategy starts a careful analysis of the program and site in relation with the resource which will play central role in the overall integration of ideas.
The concepts are conducted by both cultural and climatic environment of context and seek to capture the spiritual essence of "place". The designs strive for tranquility and harmony suggested by space, light and structure order. Fixed architectural styles are avoided , as they limit potentials to be unique and creative. However, precedents of past experiences and knowledge are important for the pratcice to provide a solid background in order to solve new problems.
